Mom's Got a New Toy

I got a soft box light or two over the weekend and was wanting to test them out. I threw my desire out to the kids and my mini super model snagged the opportunity to help Mom out. I told her I wanted to shoot her on the balcony. When I came upstairs, she was in a dress, had a face full of make-up and had brought a soft box light and a furry rug out for her shoot. I was first thinking about how I obviously had free assistant labor, but second had to gently explain that she was so pretty she needed no make-up. I've told you she was going on 16 before. After we got the make-up wiped off, we got to a quit test run of Mommy's new equipment. I have only had the chance to edit one of them in between pool time and dinner, but it's not half bad. Or maybe it's just the model...

Meet Christy and Her Pets

The other night, the kids were outside riding scooters and running around the fountain in the back yard after dinner. Arabella, otherwise known as the entertainment coordinator, starting her nightly instructions for game time. She said to Blake and Liv, "OK, here's what we're going to do. Let's pretend my name is Christy, and I am the Goddess of Beauty, and you all are my pets." The kids both answered, "OK" and the game began. Gotta love Arabella...

Feeling the Love

Yesterday when I picked up Arabella from school, she announced that she had got to get into the prize box twice that day and she had something for Blake. His face lit up in this huge smile when she told him she had got him a cherry was like he had won the lottery. When we got home, they were getting out of the car and Blake told Bella he needed to tell her something. He then proceeded to lean toward her like he was going to tell her a secret in her ear, but then gave her a huge hug. It was just the sweetest little brother/big sister moment...especially given they have been at each others throats all week. The love fest continued into the evening where I got this sweet photo of the two of them. It warmed my heart and also made me wonder if aliens had invaded my children's bodies. I will let you know when they return them.

My Beauty

I actually snapped this on the way out the door this morning for school. It was cool and crisp outside and she looked so happy and so fresh that I couldn't help myself. I managed to get a few shots and get her to school on time:)
I learn something new about her everyday. Usually just little things, but last week I learned a big one...that she was brave. It wasn't one of those words I would have ever used to describe my girl if someone asked, but she proved it without anyone even asking it of her. I am proud.

Woof, Woof

My little beauty has been barking at me all afternoon. I love it when we have a doggy day.

Happy #5 Blake!

Here is our little Blakey all decked out in his birthday goods. His sisters teamed up and got him his very own iPod shuffle, and Mom and Dad provided the Razor. We gave both of them to him yesterday so he could play with them today and Dad could be around for the unveiling. Needless to say, Blake can't really hear me anymore because he won't take his ear buds out, and has no time to sit in my lap because he has been scooting himself everywhere on the ground floor. He can't run to the bathroom or walk to my bedroom. He must wheel himself as fast as he can, all night and all day. I am kind of hoping this obsession might tone itself down in the next few days as I am tired of dodging my baby boy on that thing.
So our boy is five years old. It honestly seems to be passing so quickly. And he truly does not seem five years old to me. He is still my little baby boy. I suppose this is mainly because I don't want him to grow up. I am treasuring him at this age so much. He is so full of love and affection and truly just a sweet, big hearted boy. I hope he keeps this with him as he matures into the boy who won't let his Mom walk near him in public...that somewhere behind that eye rolling, the big hearted baby of mine will be just waiting for us to get home so he can crawl into his Momma's lap and give her a big hug. Only time will tell for that one, but I intend to get all the loves and hugs in now that I can.
He is just too good for words.

There is nothing in the whole world like a BFF. These little girls are so sweet together. They melt Mommy's heart.

Too precious...

Full Moon

This is a shot from the last full moon when the sun was setting. As you can see, the sky was so vibrant and the moon so bright. The kids were on their way upstairs for a shower and bed time, but I ushered them downstairs for a quick pic. I did not in any way capture how beautiful the moon really looked that night, but the kiddos sure look cute.

I am so excited the Fall weather is upon us. This is my favorite time of year.

The Frog Whisperer, Take Two

This was her little leopard friend she swam with for an hour or so a couple of weeks ago. The frog would just stay sitting on her staring at her, never trying to get away. I have even included in my montage, one of her lizard friends. It's one she rescued from Clive Bum Tail's clutches. It had barely any tail, but it loved little Livvy. She sat it free when she was done having her fun time...and like the frog, it never tried to get away from her.
I am so grossed out by her love of these little creatures, but am so fascinated I cannot look away. She confounds me, as usual.

Camping 2010

I wanted to share a couple of camping pictures with the Daddy before it get so far away in time that I get distracted and forget. I love it when I get some good Daddy/baby shots and these made me happy. The background for all of these is Burney Falls. I will let the pictures do the talking, but as you can see, Blake and Arabella were happy and having fun. Olivia spent the better part of her night after with her head tucked into my neck and refused pictures. It was oh-so-Livvy of her...vintage Liv, ala 2 years old that we hadn't seen for a while. I can only surmise that she is like her mother and needs more comfortable sleep than an air mattress can provide....

Another One Bites the Dust

The little Pooh Bear lost tooth #4 last weekend while we were camping. She pulled it out before she ate her specially prepared dinner of spaghetti from Grandma Pat, because she was afraid she might swallow it. Somehow, some way, the Tooth Fairy managed to find us out in the middle of nowhere (and some rain) and Arabella ended up $6 richer.
I snapped this picture while hiking at Burney Falls the next morning. I told her she looks like a reverse vampire. She likes it. Fortunately, we also had our "toothless fairy" shirt on hand for the occasion.
