Daddy's Girls

The kids all love to hang out with their Daddy at the pool after dinner. If they are not swimming, they are snuggling. I just can't pass up a snuggling picture.

The Frog Whisperer

That's my baby girl, Livvy. She enchants frogs. They love her. There is not a frog or lizard she cannot catch. The other kids won't even touch either of the above. Olivia captures them and carries them around with her and coos sweet things to them. She spent nearly an hour swimming in our pool last week with a "wittle froggie" that she found in the spillway of our pool. She actually swam with it, would let it go, then release it again. It was still hopping when she was done (surprisingly). I took this photo above earlier in the summer as the sun was setting outside. Whenever Gary can locate "taderpoles", Liv will catch them and put them in our front fountain until they grow their legs. She faithfully checks on them everyday when they are growing in there - picking them up and speaking to them for as long as they stay around. I still cringe every time she picks one up and says, "Oh, you're so cute", but I run for my camera anyway.

Good Man

I am just posting this picture because he is so good looking. A couple of nights ago, he stopped long enough in playing to take about 6 pictures (which was probably less than 20 seconds). I am fine with his speed as long as I get good ones like this.
Tomorrow is his first soccer game of the season. He is on a team of 8 little boys, aptly named, The Bad Boys. Blake actually said to me after I told him his team name, "Mommy, I'm not bad." I laughed and tried to explain how very good he is. He likes it now. Mommy does, too. Blake is such a good man.

F.D.O.S.

This was First Day of School, Day Two. Yesterday was Blake and Olivia's first day of Pre-K and Pre-school, respectively. Today, was Arabella's first day of 2nd Grade. Everyone had perfect, tear free days...Mommy included. Crazy, I know. I snapped these pics right before we were loading up in the car on each morning.
I have 3 kids in school...tennis and my camera are calling me.

I am SO Going to Cry

Olivia is going to school tomorrow. My baby is starting school. The baby is starting school. Our last child is going to school. I'm not going to cry. I am going to cry. The baby is going to school. I am surely going to cry. I wonder if she will cry. What should I dress her in? I wonder if she will agree to Bella's dress from her first day. I wonder if she will eat her lunch. I am going to cry. I am going to sob. I wonder if I can make it out before she sees me. How is my baby starting school already? I am so going to cry. -My brain today on replay

The Basics

The other night the kids were swimming as Gary and I sat on a lounger drinking a glass of wine and relaxing. Gary had Arabella on a goose chase of sorts. He asked her to find some type of large screw (or something of the like) that had fallen in the pool while he was working on the balustrade. It fell into the deepest part of our dark bottom pool and thus was a challenge to locate. He offered her $1, which was the last of the $50 she has been earning this summer as her portion of a new pink digital camera. Needless to say, she was very excited to be earning that last $1 toward her goal. She swam and swam and was coming up empty. So she did what any 6 year old girl does, she started to whine and try to "work" her Daddy. "But Daddy, I really want it so bad, but I just can't find it. I am trying really hard. I really want the dollar." This was being repeated over and over again making us roll our eyes. Gary finally piped up as only Daddy can, "Arabella, I have been talking to my friend, Mr. Obama. We know you didn't do anything to earn it, but we are going to go ahead and give you the dollar anyway." Gary and I giggled as his own funny joke. Arabella, who was still wading in the pool with her goggles on said, "Daddy, that doesn't make any sense!" It doesn't, does it? The six year old recognizes this, what's with our government?

These pics are just of the girls by the pool after they had a dress up session that involved some heavy make-up. I love the look of adoration from the Baby. Sissies Rule.

Little Cooper

Little Cooper, what are you up to? She looks like she is up to no good in this picture. I love it.

She told me she loved me 16 times on Monday. I counted just to see because she says it so very often. I love that she "wuvs" everyone and says it so much.

Random Acts Of Summer

I thought I would share a few pool pics since the summer is winding down. I can't believe they are going to back to school already next week. And even more unbelievable, that my baby is starting school. I will have no children at home for the first time. I think I hear the chorus of 'Hallelujah' playing in the background. Joking aside, we have had a wonderful, pool filled summer of fun.

My Happy Camper

The other night we were sitting on the couch winding down from our day with some television. Blake was nibbling on a pretzel rod - one of those huge pretzel sticks. He looked up and me and said, "Mommy, the inside of these pretzel sticks is a little bit of heaven," as he sucked away. I then told him that he was a little bit of heaven and wondered where he came up with that colorful phrase. I sat there thinking about how perfect and sweet and good he was, as he and Olivia jockeyed for position on my lap (It's very strategic warfare. Olivia usually wins). Then he elbowed her in the head, not 30 seconds after his heaven comment. That brought me back from my musings. He is perfect and sweet and good and 100% boy.
