My poor baby girl has been congested...actually our whole house has been stuffy for the past week. I suppose this is the season.  I am dreading them going back to school and all of the germs that will be mixing together in the petri dish known as preschool.  Anyway, back on track...I was giving her some medicine the other night and she reminded me of my Southern roots.  She asked me what flavor some liquid was, and I told her it was grape.  She drank it quickly and said, "Mommy, this is really not my favorite."  Only a good southern girl would say she didn't like something in that way.  At least I have one of my good habits rubbing off on her:)

Christmas Eve 2010

I got them. I caught all three of them today - sometime against their will, but I played the only hand I have today: presents. I even got some extra organizational work out of them. It was genius. And, they are stinking cute. Tomorrow morning should be pretty fun. Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas Eve

So Excited! So Excited! So Excited! They are going to combust. They were even up early this morning. Maybe they will go to sleep early tonight. Maybe that Santa Radar detector will be my friend and ally...

I haven't got to take a single picture in the last few days as my children have been beyond uncooperative. I am going all out today. I will not be thwarted.

My Beauty

I have had an overload of Arabella pics recently because she has been my most cooperative guinea pig with my new camera. I guess it is actually my Christmas gift that I may or may not be using illegally, but Daddy has not complained. I am like a kid in a candy store, but in the case, a kid with the most obscenely perfect, ridiculously awesome camera lens a girl could ever ask for. Gushing much, I know. It is perfection...and look at the pictures it is giving me. My last four posts are results from my new obsession. Daddy was very, very good to me this year.

Christmas Fever

The trio is getting a tiny bit worked up about Christmas being so close. I had to threaten them that I would start taking presents away if they didn't stop counting their presents and comparing their sizes on a daily basis. One of them, usually Arabella, offers to bargain with me about something..."Mommy, what if I do this (insert chore)? Can we all open up just one present? Please??" It hasn't worked yet. Gary and I also can barely get them to fall asleep at night. Even when their eyes are droopy with sleep, they are plotting and counting the days until Christmas. I think we may go visit Santa today. That might bring them to the fever pitch of insanity, right? Hopefully, Santa stops Arabella from her "I want a Siamese Kitten" fantasy. I am counting on the old man to back me up.

Smarty Pants

I was cuddling my little Pooh Bear in my bed the other night while she read her book to me. After she finished, I said, "Bella, you are getting so big. You are almost as big as your Mommy." She replied with a grin, "Yeah, but I'm sure not as OLD as you." I then pinched her, and she ran off laughing. How is that I am already getting insulted? I thought that was supposed to happen in the teenage years. Perhaps Arabella is just making 7 the new 17...

Sissies are the Best

Olivia likes to tackle people and give them hugs. It's one of her 'things.' She is so stinking cute and gives such big hugs, we always take them willingly, even when they do knock us to the ground. As you can see, she took out Arabella last night...and then posed sweetly for a photo. These girls love each other fiercely. Sisters are the best.

Extra Coolness

Blake upped the "coolness" ante today with his brooding good looks. I may have had to bribe him to take these photos, but they were worth an early Christmas present to capture him today. I think he is channeling a British rocker with his peacoat and skinny jeans. If you look really close, you can see his skull and crossbones boxers sticking out - just like a good rocker would. I confess that these jeans and their placement were what resorted to my bribing him. I just couldn't resist. I promise they were not hanging like that when I sent him to school, but he is so skinny, they came home down that far. He is super good and super cool.

This one looks like my beautiful little boy...

Christmas Wishes

I may or may not have been ranting/lecturing my children in the car earlier this week about listening to their Mother...about how when I say something they need to do it and not choose to ignore me on any given occasion because there is a possibility I will be so distracted that I will not get mad. I may have been droning on and on about how I do so many things for them and ask for so little in return, but that listening and obeying is one of the things that I expect. If this had actually occurred, it might have continued on like this: Everyone was silent, taking in Mommy's word to heart. Arabella, like the perfect daughter she is, pipes up, "Mommy, I love you." "I love you, too" I responded, "I just wish you would listen to me." Blake speaks up from the back seat, "Mommy, maybe you could ask Santa for that for Christmas. You could put it on your wish list and see of he will give it to you." If only it were that easy, my dear sweet boy...
This is a picture of Blake from Thanksgiving. He was helping Uncle Gene turn the crank on his homemade ice cream maker. It was delightful. The best part was, he gave them all a taste for their efforts.

Christmas Tree Cutting 2010

Look how happy they are! Snow and fun and sledding and fun and snow and was the best. What you don't see in these pictures is Mommy and Daddy...frowns on their faces...Daddy sweating as he digs our Escalade out of the snow...Mommy frantically trying to help him (not doing anything useful), trying to keep an eye on Blake so he does dig a hole and fall/roll down the hill...watching Arabella sled down the hill at 30 mph on her stomach with a broken wrist...watching Livvy who only has one glove that fits because she was messing around with the mitten bag before we left and brought a newborn size along with her current one...wondering if her little fingers are going to get frostbit...while Daddy digs more snow from under the tires and fetches our trailer out of peril. Sounds like a blast, right? The kids thought it was the best. We got the tree closest to the road. It's a little bit Charlie Brown, but it reaches our ceiling and fills the space. It's beautiful all lit up. It will do. The kids thought it was a blast. I know I keep repeating myself. I am reminding myself that it was a blast...

Gorgeous Little Baby

I know that I am 150% whole heartedly biased on this, but she really is such a gorgeous little baby. I snapped this while waiting outside for everyone to load up in the car for tree cutting last Sunday. I have said it before, but I think I have another Arabella on my hands with the way she loves to pose for pictures. And her skin...her perfect little skin. It was made for kisses.

Broken Things

Only Arabella could turn a broken limb into a stylish photo shoot.

It's been about 6 months since we've had a cast in our home, so I guess it was time again. Arabella injured herself on the uneven bars at gymnastics. The ironic part was that she was just playing around while at a birthday party and slipped off while attempting a pullover. She landed at just the right angle to obtain a buckle fracture right near her left wrist (she is fortunately right handed). It is apparently a decent break, but one that should be healed within 3 weeks. She barely even cried when it happened - maybe for 30 seconds and then went back off to play. It wasn't until the next day that she started to feel the pain (as did I with her whining) and we decided to go get the x-ray. This is not her first broken bone (she broke her collar bone at 2 years old), but it is her first cast. She told me yesterday as we were leaving the doctor's office, "This was kind of fun." Yeah, totally fun. Wouldn't you agree?

So Good

He's so very, very good. Words cannot even properly express what I feel as a Momma in love. I cherish the kisses. I cherish this boy. Perfection.

You Are So Cute!

Olivia was sitting on my lap last night as I diligently edited some photos at my lap top. She was nuzzling me and giving me lovies like the good kitty she is. Then she said, "Mommy, you are so cute!" My little parrot repeats. Kisses were involved.

Keeping It Simple

A conversation between Arabella and Blake:

Arabella: (while holding a green apple) Blake, See these apples. We just learned about some different apple types at school. My favorite is Honey Crisp. This is a Granny Smith. See -it's called Granny Smith.
Blake: (studies the apple thoughtfully) Well, I just call them green apples.
Arabella: rolls eyes
Blake: runs off
Lynette had this picture from the end of our photo shoot last month (Olivia was off to the side whining). She thought it was so funny, she kept it. I am so glad she did. I could not agree more.

Slumber Party

I survived our first slumber party. We have had plenty of overnight guests, but never in multiple quantities. Arabella had 5 little girls over for her birthday celebration, so I spent the night tending 7 squealing little girls (Olivia thinks she is also 7). They were actually so very good, but I will admit to being tired for a day or two afterward...high maintenance pretty much covers it. My favorite part of the night...the pillow fight in the rotunda. No matter what the generation, the little girls are still the same.

The Cake:

Happy Birthday to you:

Little Pooh Bear

I don't get very many mother/daughter photos these days...mostly because I am the one stalking everyone from behind the lens. Lynette Penick took some family photos for us a few weeks ago and within that shoot got some of us alone. I treasure these so much. There is not a whole lot of little left in her, but I am holding on to what is there with all of my heart.

Halloween 2010

I got on an "editing roll" this morning and these photos were too stinking funny not to share. Plus, I wanted to get them on here before Christmas. At the rate I am going, it's now or never. Above you will note our Ghostbuster, our Twilight Vampire, Esme, and our little Longhorn Cheerleader. Our cheerleader was supposed to be a black cat until she saw Mommy in her cheerleader uniform and switched. She made for a pretty cute cheerleader, I must say...

Liv and I posed together before we left. I feel compelled to note that this uniform is 21 years old. I am not sure how I still fit into it, and Gary may or may not have had to peel me out of it after we got home, but I still wore it, all the same:)

This was our crew right as we were heading our for trick-or-treating. Why is Dad try to get me??

Here is our pumpkin carving from the night before. There was some serious pumpkin seed picking done by Blake, hence the missing shirt. I say that, but he usually has no shirt on anyway, so it wasn't all that unusual, I suppose.
I just love this picture and had to share it...

Ballerina Girl

We had observance day at Arabella's dance class this week (they only allow us to watch 3 times a year). From the moment they began, I could not wipe the smile off my face. I was entranced by how much she had progressed and how grown up she looked. She's gone from my tiny dancer into a ballerina and I didn't even realized it had happened. Proud Momma here...

Our Beauty is Seven

Our little teeny Pooh Bear is not so tiny any more. In fact, I think she is more of seven going on seventeen. Yesterday in the car on the way to dance, I may or may not have been lecturing her about listening to me...about no matter how old she is or she thinks she is, she still needs to be respectful and do what she's told. After my mini-rant, she quietly said, "Well, I am almost 7. I can't wait to be a teenager!" I may have gasped and asked "Why??" to which she responded: "Because I will get a phone and a car. And I can go be with my friends all the time and go to the movies all the time and do whatever I want. It's going to be so cool. I can't wait." I naturally responded, "Well, I can..."
This picture is from Halloween. My baby girl was a vampire named Esme. When I look at this picture, I think maybe she is edging closer to seventeen than seven.
Stay small for me for just a while longer, Pooh Bear. You have the rest of your life to be a grown up.

There's Almost Nothing Better...

As a Mom, there is almost nothing sweeter than watching my babies sleep. Blake fell asleep during a wedding on his Daddy's chest. I jumped at the chance to capture the sweet innocence. He's growing up so fast, but when I see him like this, he still looks like my baby boy. He is such good perfection.

Sharpay Hands

Arabella got her "Sharpay Hands" ala High School Musical on tonight in preparation for her play tomorrow. I just about died laughing when I walked into the bathroom for teeth brushing and found her doing the "sharpay" prep to herself in the mirror. If you have seen it in High School Musical, you will remember it. If you haven't, ask Arabella for a demo next time you see her. It's pretty hilarious. I had no idea she had it in her...well, maybe an inkling:)

Meet Olivia

I'm not confused (at least not right this moment). This is Arabella, but she will be playing the part of "Olivia" is a class play next week called "The Ugly Pumpkin." She has been cast as the owner of the Ugly Pumpkin, Olivia. We have been rehearsing her lines, and they are apparently preparing the set decorations today. These class plays are the best. I will be sure to post a review after the performance:)

Blake just made me a necklace and a bracelet with his Bendaroos. He such a little ladies man. That was after he made Saturn and an "EFO" (he means UFO, but never says it right). He then informed me that aliens are really real, and they live on Mars. He's so serious about it, I don't have the heart to argue. Plus, he's just super good looking.

Monday, October 18, 2010

The other night I was helping Blake dress after his shower. He said, "Mama, I need to go downstairs and practice my coolness." I immediately inquired as to what exactly his "coolness" was. He responded, "You know Mama, when you are riding your scooter and you do all kinds of cool things. Like you go down on one knee and then up and then you do a quick turn and it's really cool. That's my coolness." I immediately gave him a big kiss and told him he was so cool and so good. And, I love this picture. My baby boy is turning into a little man...and he is full of coolness.

Sisterly Education

The other night, Blake called me Daddy when he was asking for something at dinner time. Gary was not home yet, so Arabella took it upon herself to correct him. Her monologue was as follows: "Blake, is she tall? Does she have her on her face? Does she wear not cute shirts with holes in them? Does she wear shoes with duct tape on them? No! Mommy is not a boy." I feel like saying, "Hah!" after just typing that out. What will I do with this little girl?

These pictures are from Oregon this past weekend where we attended a wedding of one of Gary's cousins. It was at a beautiful vineyard at sunset. I tried for some family photos, but as you can see, Livvy was being Livvy. I give props to Daddy on the last photo. He snapped that one while I was attempting to coax something sweet out of Olivia. It didn't work, but I love the photo all the same. It is real.

An Ode to Mr. Pumpkin

I thought I would show Blakey some love with our annual pumpkin patch pictures. We visited Nash Pumpkin Patch two weekends ago while Arabella was attending a birthday party there and decided to pick out our family pumpkins along the way. I just realized that I did not put a picture of it on here, but our main pumpkin weighs 105 lbs. The kids saw it, begged Daddy for it and got their way. That Daddy is such a softy. And as you can see from these pictures, Blake was very into the pumpkin picking this year. He thought the knife was the coolest thing ever. I suppose boys will be boys. Below are a few more pic of our Mr Pumpkin...
