Today was our first time to visit the Annual Harvest Festival at Grant School. The kids were so excited to get dressed up for the adventure. Arabella was a Woodland Fairy, Blake was Obi Wan Kenobi and Liv was a Little Bee. It was quite a busy place to say the least. The kids spent the first half hour in awe of everything going on, and Mom & Dad spent the time trying to keep track of all of them. After some pumpkin and face decorating, some games and a few slushies, we left with the prize of the day - a goldfish Blake won. He named him "John, the Unicorn Goldfish" (Gary has a unicorn fish at his office that Blake really likes) and he now resides on our counter in his own bowl next to our Beta, Rico Sunshine (both named affectionately by Blakey). Just what we needed, right?? On another note, it was 90 degrees here today. Isn't it almost Halloween?

Blakey made his Grant Pre-school Cubbie Performance debut this morning. He was so stinking cute. All of the kids wore their Halloween costumes and as you can see, we have Ruffy Massin in the fur. He didn't do a whole lot of singing, but he had lots of smiles for us. He was in awe of all of the people there to watch them. Best of all, his 3 girls were only about 4 feet away during the performance as we got some prime seating. The funniest part of the morning came when Olivia discovered her brother was sitting there with all of the children. She suddenly squealed, "Aaahh" and made a bee line for him. I did not catch her in time so Blake got a hug from baby sis mid performance (you will see the head-butting hug below). Everyone giggled at how cute it was, and Blake looked stunned. Arabella was so proud to attend Blake's performance (they let them leave class for the performance if they have a pre-school sibling) and see her baby brother out there. As you can see from the pictures, it was a sweet morning.

Her Royal Highness, Arabella, requested a photo session this afternoon. Since she has the social calendar of an 18 year old, I don't often get the chance to capture her, so I took her up on it. We had a very productive half hour without one of her siblings crying or whining about something (there must be something in the air today:). We not only got to give her new tiara and Christmas dress a test run, but we also came to the very important conclusion (an A-ha!! idea on her part) that Arabella would undergo TWO wardrobe changes during her 5th Birthday party to accommodate her HRH's many sensational dresses. Very, very important decisions...next I am sure we will be considering shoe choices and hair styles.
What have I created??
What have I created??

Yesterday I hit the big 34. I can't help but really feel like I have hit my mid 30's...fun times, huh? Mid thirties, 3 kids, stay-at-home Mom - it doesn't seem like I am old enough in my mind for any of those roles. I was treated to a 6:30 am rendition of Happy Birthday by Blake, Arabella and Gary (very cute) and a wonderful lunch at my favorite Bistro with my dear Jenny. We had a low key evening at home with some Chinese food and some homemade cupcakes (courtesy of Carole and Blakey). I was treated to some beautiful flowers from my Mom, a bouquet of candy from my Sis and a beautiful bracelet from sweet Megan along with a really awesome memory dvd kit for birthdays. The fam gave me a self bought gift - a coveted camera lens I wanted and a pilates set picked out by Daddy. Gary took me to dinner last weekend and we will be having another date this Saturday night along with some wine bottling, which we always enjoy. Incidentally, they are also setting off the "4th of July" fireworks here on Saturday night that they could not set off in July due to the fires. The kids are so excited. Gary & I have planned our evening to be home in time to enjoy them with the kiddies. These are the fun times of life.

Here are a few more pics of Liv from her photo shoot with Lynette...She was being a bit unruly by the last one as you can see she was wandering off the set, but I love it. And the first one is dear to my heart as she always got that tongue out of her mouth when she is up to mischief. Wardrobe credits go to Liv for the pearls (she puts them on herself) and Auntie Megan in Pennsylvania for the stylin' sweater, poofy skirt and beret. The outfit is one of our favorites!

My kiddos have a love affair with animals - especially little Blakey. They had a blast at the petting zoos on Sunday that were at the Pumpkin Patch. I think the animals were the highlight of the "pumpkin search." Blake and Arabella could not leave the goats along. This goat above, whom Arabella dubbed "Lilly", was all about eating Blakey. Livvy was really into the goats as well, but really loved the little piggies, which she chased around. At the end of the afternoon, Arabella had begged enough to go ride the ponies. This was her first time to ride one and she really loved it. Much to our surprise, Blake was insistent on riding as well. We could not wipe the grin off of his face while he rode "Magic.". Now the kids are begging on a daily basis for goat and kitties...Just what we need.

We made our annual trek out to the Nash Pumpkin Patch this past Sunday afternoon in search of the perfect pumpkins. The kids were a real piece of work while there. They had a small petting zoo set up that I think they liked more than the pumpkin searching (I will get some pics of that up next). Anyway, here are a couple of snaps from the adventure. It's one of my favorite things that we do all year as it is that event that "triggers" fall for me...the weather is beautiful, the leaves are changing, the holidays are coming. I love this time. Here are my little pumpkins from the weekend.

I know I have had an overload of Liv photos recently, but she has been my easiest child to stalk given the others are in school or occupied. Lynette Penick(http://www.photographybylynette.com/) took pictures of Livvy a few weeks ago - I was a bit late in getting her 1 year old shots done (bad Mommy!), but we got a peek at them today and they are just so adorable. I had to put a few up, especially for Gigi, because I think they really capture Liv's personality perfectly. I am cleaning up after a weekend of non-stop activities, but here are a few of our little cutie pie.

All of our children have always loved Daddy and his gardening - their favorite thing being eating tomatoes straight off the vine. Livvy has proved no different and perhaps our most zealous "farmer" of the three kiddos. She is all about hanging out with Daddy while he waters and tends to things and more than happy to eat any and all of his good stuff. She thinks it's even better if you can get when you are still outside and eat it right then. I took these pics the other day when she & I were the only 2 home. I went out to pick tomatoes and started piling them in the planter as I had forgot my strainer. I turned around only to find my bounty being pilfered by a 20 lb runt. As usual it was completely adorable, and Daddy is so proud of his veggie girl. There must be some kind of a "gardening" gene in our DNA. I think I may have missed out on that one. Fortunately, they had strong representation from their Daddy. Like Father, Like Kids...

I used to always use the phrase "Foof in the Poof" with Blakey (I guess I still do). It meant a variety of things(depending on the moment) from food in your mouth to a dirty diaper. Gary used to, and still does, make fun of me for saying these goofy things and not really knowing what the heck I was talking about at that moment. Arabella always knew, but Gary always got it wrong, or at least pretended to. Anyway, when I look at this photo it made me think she has "Poof on her Foof". Wouldn't you agree? All babies need some Poofie on the head at some point, right?? Liv, you make marabou look good!
