Butterflies Among Us

The Butterfly Fairy gave us another visit on Thursday night, and she was in fine form. She brought her CD player outside along with Blake's Kindermusik CD and was playing a song called "Butterfly Wings" over and over and over. She was very dramatic in her dance routines, as you can see in the pictures. She is a real piece of work.

Cuddle Bug

My Little Boogie is such a little cuddle bug. This was her after she got out of the pool last night. She was very cold at first and then started to crawl around and try to actually get back in as Blake and Arabella were still jumping in and out. She is becoming quite the baby beluga as last night she was jumping off the edge and going under water to get to Gary without hesitation. We apparently grow little fish around here.

Mr. Lawnmower

Blakey must certainly be gearing up for mowing the lawn when he is older to pay Mommy back for this whole potty training thing. We are on Day 4 now - I have him at about 65-35 - that is 65% of the time he makes it to the potty - 35% it's all Mommy cleaning up the mess. God love him, he tries, but he gets distracted easily - we take two steps forward - one back. This afternoon while at our friends house - I got one potty out of him and then one in his boxer briefs. I said, "Blakey, why did you go potty in your underpants?" He answered, "Cuz." I shall persevere as I know he is almost there, my little sweetheart. Have I mentioned how GOOD Blakey is today??

Smelling the Flowers...

Taking time to "smell the roses" is kind of a far away thought for a Mom of 3 small children, but oddly enough, I find myself doing it more often. I guess it is knowing that I will never have another baby again - that they are growing so fast - that I love them so much more than I could have ever imagined - that makes me just stop my day sometimes and just giggle with them. Of course, my stopping from going fast forward is often only for a few minutes at a time, but it gets me moments I will remember forever. Children are the best.

Put Your Happy Face On

Here is our little Pooh Bear in all her tap dancing glory. She was so very adorable last night. This dance was titled "Put Your Happy Face On" - which she did so very well. We could not be more proud of our little star.

This is one of Arabella's dearest friends from Pre-K, Anna, being giggly girls right before their performance.

Making Daddy Proud

You can see by the look on his face that Blakey is so proud of himself. Gary woke him up this morning at 5:30 am for an impromptu fishing trip. So while the girls attended dance rehearsals, the boys had some male bonding time at Whiskeytown Lake. It proved to be the perfect move as they were able to catch some fish for the first time since Blake got his "pishing pole" (as he calls it) this year. They caught a dozen trout. They put most of them back, but kept a few for a dinner time snack. Gary claims they put back the big ones to "propagate the species"...Fishermen tell such tall tales. Daddy is so very proud of his boy, who pulled the fish in himself.

Tiny Angel Dancer

Here is my little Pooh Bear at her rehearsals yesterday. She looks so angelic and sweet. We had more rehearsals today and yet more tomorrow morning before the real deal tomorrow night. They are looking pretty adorable. I can't wait.

Oh Ruffy Massin...You light up our lives!

Living in the Moment

I am not especially pleased with the sharpness of these photos, but I love them nonetheless. They are Arabella - pure joy- and totally in the moment. Perfection.

Happy Father's Day, DaDa!

Gary made it home safely last night. There was great weather on the mountain and other than being a little sore, he is great. We are having a leisurely Father's Day at the house after a Red Robin lunch. I snapped this photo this morning on the way out the door. We love you, Daddy.

The Top of Our World

Daddy always sits at the top of our world, but tomorrow, he will literally be climbing to the top of our near world, as he will be hiking to the summit of Mount Shasta, elevation 14,179 feet. The first time he did this was 3 years ago, on July 23, 2005. When I went back to look for a picture to post on here is when I found the date he was last there. It was Liv's birthday...kind of a fun coincidence. He signed the book at the top dedicating his climb to his father with love and for strength for my Daddy, who was fighting the battle of his life with cancer. I couldn't help but get teary eyed tonight as he left thinking of all of the things that are different in our lives just this short 2 years later. I really miss my Daddy.

Gary told Arabella to be looking out of our kitchen window tomorrow at 1:00 pm for Daddy, who will be waving from the top of Mount Shasta. She is so excited. Good Luck, Daddy! We miss you, and we love you.

A Stroll Down the Block

Isn't this what you do when you go down the block to the mailbox?? This photo was from about 10 days ago - I told Arabella I was going to the mailbox with Liv and I asked her if she'd like to join me. Mind you, the mailbox is 3 houses down. She asked me to wait for her, which I did as I had to strap Liv into her stroller. What came out of the house to greet me gave me giggles and really, just joy. Arabella was decked out in sparkly flip flops, lip gloss, sassy sunglasses, her cell phone, and Miss B in her stroller all for a quick jaunt down the block. I don't know where she gets this stuff from...

The Big Boy at Turtle Bay

I took the three kids (yes, by myself) to Turtle Bay this morning to have some fun time outside on their playground. While I spent most of my time keeping tracking of them, I did manage a couple of pics of Blakey looking adorable. We had some play gym time and then went to their bird exhibit. They had 500 birds in this enclosed, outdoor tent type of structure that you could feed. Both Arabella and Blake begged to get a stick of their food to feed them, but when it came down to the birds flying and landing on their hands, Blake was the only one who would go for it. He really loved them. It was cute because he was kind of chasing them around and then would freeze when one would land on him. Arabella - not so much...I am not sure what her thing was, but I suppose she is just not a bird girl. Liv got her chance at touching one as she was trying to attack one that I was feeding. When she actually grabbed it, the bird flew at her and thus cured her from grabbing at any more birds for the afternoon. She was startled and slightly indignant about it. The joys of babies...

It's a Bird...It's a Plane...

It's Super Blakey! Our boy has been a mad man in the pool. Daddy is especially proud of the stroke on his can tell he is going to be a powerful swimmer already. He and Arabella spent a good 45 minutes last night jumping in and swimming across the pool to Daddy...over and over and over...It looked exhausting from afar. What I wouldn't give for a small slice of their energy.

Happy 39 Daddy!

Lucky Daddy got a birthday weekend instead of just a day. Yesterday, he and Blake hiked Shasta Bally in preparation for his second time to climb Mount Shasta next weekend. I personally don't get what is so fun about sleeping on the cold ground over night and waking at the crack of dawn to go hiking any place that requires an icepick...Anyway, I digress. Blakey did pretty well on the hike although Daddy's back is hurting a bit from hauling all 32 lbs of him all the way and back down the mountain. Gary and I got a date night last night with no kiddos. Then today, we had a lunch out and then, Daddy's big present from the kids. In addition to a keychain that Arabella personally made, Daddy got movie tickets to go see Kung Fu Panda with Arabella and Blake. I sent them armed with large boxes of candy and although there was no crying and they liked the movie, Gary said they each told a half a dozen times or so that they wanted to go home for various odd reasons. You've gotta love a 2 and 4 year old at the movie theatre, huh? We then had a nice Filet Mignon dinner and then some pool time for everyone. Livvy was a little too cranky to stay up for the cup cakes, but I saved her one for tomorrow. Happy 39 Daddy! We love you so much.

I concede...

Although our baby girl did utter the word "MaMa" about a week before she said "DaDa", it is obvious now what her word of choice is these days...everything is "DaDa." And, she says it in the softest, sweetest little voice. If you ask Arabella, she will tell you that Olivia's first word was "opera" at around 3 months old...and she swears that she already says "Arabella" on a daily basis
