It's A...

Yellow Red Robin Balloon...
Why, you might ask, is my beautiful boy pretending to be pregnant? As with all fun things in life, it began with big sissy - who was pretending she was pregnant with her balloon. Being the fickle 4 year old she is, she decided I could not take a photo of her with the balloon 'in utero', but Brother Bear happily obliged. Saturday was a big day for being preggo. Incidently, Arabella's friend Princess Leia, gave birth to a baby girl named Brooke. For anyone beyond us who is keeping score - Arabella is married to Anakin, her best friends are Princess Leia and Amidala (who dine with us as often as Anakin) and the name Brooke is an ode to our real friend, Claire's new baby sister. Oh - and sometimes Luke chases Arabella around, but she is still true to Anakin and tells him to leave her alone. She still keeps running though...

The fun extra of Blake and his balloon was his insistence on wearing it to lunch that way. I walked my boy into our favorite Sunday diner with a balloon in his shirt. Fortunately for Daddy's ego, he decided he was bored with it when we got seated and the balloon fell astray.

Say What You Need To Say...

There are certain songs that immediately trigger specific memories or feelings about a time in my life. It's amazing the emotions that music can bring forth and truly make you feel like you are there all over again. I had one of those moments the other night with my daughter that I hope will forever remain etched in my mind. I was downloading some music on my laptop from itunes and began playing one of the new songs - a beautiful John Mayer song called 'Say What You Need To Say". The lyrics are beautiful and the chorus repeats the song title over and over. Arabella came bounding over to the computer and began singing the catchy lyrics in her beautiful little voice. I joined her and we began singing to each other as she hugged me. I can't put into words how powerful the moment was for me. It brings tear to my eyes just thinking of how alive I felt in that moment - the overwhelming love for my baby girl...how lucky I am...what a great life we have.
It's a really awesome song. Check it out if you get a moment.

Happy 6th Months Old

Our little Livvy Brynn turns 6 months old today. I don't know where the time goes. It made me think about how this will be the last time we will ever have a 6 month old baby in our house. It is the sweetest age - all smiles and loves. I decided to take a trip down memory lane with Arabella and Blake - so her are all 3 of my angels at 6 months. We are blessed.

Let Them Eat Sweet Potatoes...

We will surely get to the cake that Marie Antoinette wanted everyone to eat, but first we start with sweet potatoes. We have had some serious sweet potato eating kids come from this house and Little Brynn is proving no different. We started her on some rice cereal a couple of weeks ago and have quickly progressed to sweet potatoes, pears, apples & peas. We were pleased to find out yesterday that she is following on her big sister's foot steps as a lover of peas (we couldn't get Blakey to touch them for anything). Bring on the messiness...

Quote of the Day

As Gary was putting Arabella to bed a couple of nights ago, she told him she was afraid to go to sleep because she might have a bad dream about the ogre she had just seen on a Harry Potter movie. Gary told her to try and block it out of her mind and to think of something else. She said, "No, Daddy. I can't control my brain. My brain controls me."

These Things are Cosmic...

One of my favorite things about little babies is their feet. I just love baby feet. They are the best. So nothing is better to me than when they discover their feet. They look at them like they are the most astounding things in the whole universe - which to them - they are. Who knew you had all these toes?? These are some shots of Olivia today - playing with her freshly polished baby toes (courtesy of Big Sis). She hasn't figured out how to get them in her mouth yet, but I am sure it is only a matter of time.

Sugar & Spice

And Everything Nice...that's what little girls are made of. I am a girly girl so I take much delight in dressing up my girls. Here is little Livvy Brynn in her first of many tutu photo ops. She brings so much sunshine to our world. She is quite the talker - constantly babbling. Her favorite "word" these days is "Goo." It is the funniest thing because she will always talk back to you if you get right up next to her, make eye contact and say "Goo..." She knows then that you want to "chat" with her. Sometimes in the middle of the night I will hear "Goo, ah goo goo" on the monitor and will know my girl is having a conversation with a bear or something fun in her crib. It brings such a smile to my face. It's one of those little joys in life.
